Or underlistening? This very interesting study presents a very different idea around social listening… or “social influence.” It takes a look at how one views oneself through the lens of our Facebook friends. It’s suggested that our own self-worth is being measured against the vacations and fun photos friends choose to share on Facebook.

Are you measuring yourself (or your brand) against others’ appearance on Facebook? Give this WBUR #DigitalLives report on “Facebook Envy” a listen, but also consider why folks share what they share and when they share it. There is definitely more than meets the eye.

For a funnier take on this, cue-up this Daily Show video… the segment about the Facebook Envy study appears from 1:56 to 3:28.
